What this warning usually means
Steady lamp: usually low fluid or an early-stage fault.
Flashing lamp or "urea fault" message with power loss: the system has detected a dosing, pressure, quality or sensor fault and may derate the engine or count down to a no-start.
Can the vehicle still start?
Usually yes at first, though many commercial vehicles reduce power. Ignored for long enough, it can lead to a restart lockout.
