What the Boxer/Relay dashboard usually says
Exact wording varies by year and software — send us a photo.
- "Starting impossible in XXX miles"
- "Emissions fault: starting prevented"
- "Top up AdBlue" that stays on after filling
How the Boxer/Relay AdBlue system works
BlueHDi Boxers and Relays use an AdBlue tank module with integrated pump, heater and level sensor. When it fails the countdown often appears with little explanation on the dash.
Expert, Dispatch and later Vivaro/Proace vans share similar PSA BlueHDi hardware, so the same diagnostic path usually applies.
Fault codes we commonly see on the Boxer/Relay
- P20E8 — Low reductant pressure — frequently the tank module
- P20BA — Heater performance
- P20E9 — Reductant pressure too high
