What the Sprinter dashboard usually says
Exact wording varies by year and software — send us a photo.
- "AdBlue: No start in XXX km/miles"
- "Refill AdBlue — see Operator's Manual"
- "AdBlue: Visit workshop"
How the Sprinter AdBlue system works
BlueTEC Sprinters and Vitos run the SCR system through a separate AdBlue control unit as well as the engine ECU. The heated pump sits in or on the tank, with two NOx sensors and an exhaust temperature sensor feeding the dosing strategy.
Sprinter heater/pump faults typically show up in cold weather. Vito and V-Class share much of the same logic, so the diagnostic path is similar.
Fault codes we commonly see on the Sprinter
- P20EE — SCR efficiency fault
- P229F — Downstream NOx sensor circuit / performance
- P2200 — NOx sensor circuit faults (P2200-series)
- P20B9 — Reductant heater circuit — common in winter
What we check on site
The technician confirms the right repair after checking the vehicle. Many faults are fixed on the spot; some need a part ordered. Mobile call-out from £150 minimum. Final cost depends on the vehicle, location, diagnosis and work required.
- Read both the engine ECU and the AdBlue control unit
- Test heater resistance and pump operation in the tank
- Check NOx sensor live data and wiring for water ingress
- Verify AdBlue quality and dosing quantity
