What the Transit dashboard usually says
Exact wording varies by year and software — send us a photo.
- "AdBlue system malfunction — service required"
- "No engine restart in XXX miles"
- "Engine restart prevented — see manual"
How the Transit AdBlue system works
The 2.0 EcoBlue Transit and Transit Custom use a tank module that houses the AdBlue pump, heater and level/quality sensing, feeding a single dosing injector ahead of the SCR catalyst, with NOx sensors before and after. The engine PCM runs the countdown.
Transit Customs on short-hop delivery and idling work are particularly prone to injector crystallisation; long-wheelbase Transits on motorway work see more tank module and heater faults.
Fault codes we commonly see on the Transit
- P20EE — SCR efficiency below threshold — often dosing, injector or NOx sensor related
- P20E8 — Reductant pressure too low — pump, lines or tank module
- P204F — Reductant system performance
- P2BAD — NOx exceedence — root cause not yet identified
What we check on site
The technician confirms the right repair after checking the vehicle. Many faults are fixed on the spot; some need a part ordered. Mobile call-out from £150 minimum. Final cost depends on the vehicle, location, diagnosis and work required.
- Read the PCM and confirm calibration level
- Check tank module pressure build and heater operation
- Run a dosing quantity test and inspect the injector for crystals
- Compare upstream and downstream NOx readings for plausibility
