How the Peugeot AdBlue system works
Covers: Boxer, Expert, Partner, 308, 3008, 508 and 5008 BlueHDi.
PSA BlueHDi engines use an AdBlue tank module with integrated pump, heater and level sensor. When the module fails the vehicle shows 'Starting impossible in X miles', often without a meaningful fault description.
Common Peugeot AdBlue faults we see first
- AdBlue tank module failure — the classic BlueHDi complaint
- 'Starting impossible in X miles' countdown
- P20E8 pressure and P20BA heater faults
- AdBlue leaking or crystallising around the filler and pump
What we check before quoting
We read the engine ECU, check tank module part numbers and confirm whether the fault is the module, wiring or calibration.
Send us the registration and the exact dashboard message or fault code by WhatsApp. We confirm the ECU type and whether the job is suitable before arranging a visit.
Who this is for
We see Boxers used as race transporters and track-day support, and vans prepared for export where AdBlue supply is unreliable.
Important — legal position
Disabling or removing a working emissions control system on a vehicle used on UK public roads is not lawful and will fail an MOT. This service is only for vehicles used off-road, in competition, on private land or exported. Road-registered vehicles in UK use get diagnosis and repair instead.
